The FH Kärnten (Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Austria) invites applications for a fully-funded BSc position in the area of a platform for big spatial data management for semantic integration.
Your responsibilities
The KWF “Umsetzung innovativer Gründungsvorhaben” 2021 (UiG) project will be supervised by Assoc. Prof. Tomaž Podobnikar. It will be focused to design and develop a prototype platform for the implementation of spatial data conflation with services, plug-ins or similar. The methods used will depend on the final focus that will be developed during the project, ranging from C++, Java, PHP, Python, to backend SQL, ArcGIS Server, Geoserver, PostGIS, as well as frontend Openlayers, Mapbox or similar.
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated fellow with a passion for innovation, and with an independent, efficient and effective work style. Applicants must have completed a BSc degree or close to achieving it or have relevant professional experience in Computer Science, GIScience, Data Science, or a related field. A strong background in programming is a prerequisite. Ideally, the candidate also has experience in machine/deep learning and ontological models. The successful applicant will also have a profound interest in collaborating within an interdisciplinary team. Decent spoken and written English communication skills are mandatory. Knowledge of German is considered an asset.
